Welcome to the all-new GermanMetal.com!Ladies and Gentlemen, we proudly welcome you to the new, renovated version of GermanMetal.com! Some of you may know we previously had a pretty extensive wiki set up to include all of our content. However, in the long run, that wiki format proved unuseful, unintuitive and too time-consuming for us to be able to keep it up to date. So, here is a new, improved interface, a faster and more intuitive browsing experience, and of course, the part which made our success: a list of German artists to broaden your horizons and fill up your playlists! Â This seems pretty exciting, but I have no idea what you are talking about! What is GermanMetal.com? Â Basically, GermanMetal.com is a website we put up to help international fans of German music (and especially Rammstein, probably the best known band of the genre) to discover new artists they like, since pretty much all sources are in German right now. The Eisbrecher section is up!
It is also very fitting for us to build an Eisbrecher section as Eisbrecher released an album this year, which deserves as much promotion as it can. Eiszeit has been their biggest commercial success so far, but then again, it isn't so surprising considering their fanbase never ceased to grow over the year, selling more albums and concert tickets with every album that came out. Formerly known mainly as "the new project of old Megaherz-vocalist Alexx", Eisbrecher is now established on its own, and does not need either Megaherz or Rammstein to get all the attention they deserve. The Unheilig section is open!
While Unheilig had a great fanbase already in 2009, the single "Geboren Um Zu Leben" made him known to the masses just earlier this year. New fans quickly saw Unheilig was no one-hit wonder: the album stayed #1 in the German album charts for 15 consecutive weeks, a record in the country. Also known for the energetic live performances of Der Graf, we hope this section will help give international recognition to Unheilig, or more modestly, be a nice resource for fans. Go ahead and visit it! Last Updated (Tuesday, 31 August 2010 04:07) |

That's right, Eisbrecher get the honor (no room for humility, right!?) of being selected, along with Unheilig, to be one of our two sections up for the grand opening of the new GermanMetal.com. There are so many awesome bands we could have featured, and the choice wasn't easy. Yet, it was quite a no-brainer, considering Eisbrecher is probably one of the most loved bands by Rammstein fans around the world. While the style is indeed similar, Eisbrecher's unique approach certainly lets no one mistake them. There never was any compromise for Eisbrecher over the years; the sharply cut beats, the heavy guitars blended into lots of electronics, and of course, Alexx's harsh and charismatic vocals are consistently found on every album, while a particular attention is obviously put in making none of the records sound just like the last one.
With the opening of GermanMetal.com comes the opening of two artist sections: one of them is Unheilig. The reason for choosing them might be obvious to fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland who have witnessed their incomparable breakthrough earlier this year. After about 10 years of dedication and concerts, Der Graf, frontman of Unheilig, finally got all the recognition he deserved for having created, over the years, a unique mix of genres, while keeping the music accessible. It is indeed hard to name one band that really sounds like Unheilig: danceable beats, heavy electronics in times, soft piano in others, catchy melodies, a few songs with heavy guitar riffs, lots of orchestra, a deep voice and a poetry that has evolved over the years to be more and more fitting to the music with the apparition of Unheilig's concept albums.
