- How does it feel to play in Spain supporting HIM, although you donīt play similar styles of music?
Itīs good to support a band thatīs more famous all across Europe because is a good chance to reach a new audience. We are very happy and very luchy to tour with them because the audience of HIM is very open minded. - Thereīs a lot of people tonight in the audience that donīt like heavy metal, do you feel confortable playing to that audience?
Itīs not that I would say that our music is for a special kind of audience, so...it doesnīt matter who likes our music. I think the best thing is going into music, deeply. So, of course, itīs better to have someone in the audience who really is into the music, the history of the band. For examply, Oomph! Exist since1989, so the new album, Ego, is our 7th album, so...of course is better to have people in the audience who know the history of the band. But, if there someone new, he or she is very welcome, if he or she is openminded enought for the stuff that we do, we are satisficed.
- A part o the audience think thay you play like Rammstein. How do you feel about it?
Itīs a small problem; as I said we were there much earlier. I think Rammstein exist since 1995 and Oomph! since 1989, as I said. So, of course, they are huge, big but I know why theyare big; because they are a created band thay many people like. For we itīs too much related to bad part of history. I wanna fun in the stage, I want to have a dialogue with the audience, and Oomph! Is not a created, huge, show that you can get in Las Vegas, for example, you know, with a lot of explosions, fire and stuff. Thatīs not our thing but we know many people like that and itīs ok but...as long as the people know we were there earlier. Rammstein always say that they are influenced by us. So, itīs an honour for us, even I donīt like the image of Rammstein, itīs too much the picture of the german that donīt exist anymore. I know that in America thereīs a lot of white guys in the first ray saying " hail!". And you think..." whatīs that?" You know, we donīt need it anymore. So Iīm happy thatīs not the same with Oomph! We are smaller, but we have an audience that is nice.
- So you will never support Rammstein?
No, never ever.
- What does the word "Oomph" mean? Itīs an old English slang word that we found in a very old dictionary, and it means energy, sex appeal...For example, Marilyn Monroe had a lot of Oomph.
- What do you thing about the Spanish audience?
The spanish audience is one fo the best. Really. Two days ago we played in Madrid and then in Granada, and it was completely different than tonight because the people sang louder than the music. So we were playing in the stage and it was like "woaaaaaa", I mean..." do you really know us?" And even thouh more of the people didnīt know us. That was great. So Spain and Portugal are completely diferent. You enter the stage even you are not well knowed, and you give the bloody rush, put the energy to the audience,it comes all back.
- Why didnīt you played old songs?
Well, itīs a problem because we have only 45 minutes to play so we must choose the songs we play. Itīs a problem īcause we have 7 albums so...we concentrate us more in the new album.
- Do you think weīll have the chance to see you in Wacken or Eurorock this summer?
I think so, because our manager said that is planned to play in some summer festivals in Portugal and Spain and France.
- What do you think about the "groopies" and the fans related to HIM?
HIM is like a rock-star image, so, itīs normal, because they have a young audience. If you enter in the top charts of Europe is normal that are a lot of teenager that was last night watching Back Street Boys and HIM tonight. But we have to live with that. I was a teen too, so I know when you are a teenager all is different. I can understand that, I think they will change completely their behavior in 5 years.
- A mesage for the fans?
Hi, Iīm Dero, from Oomph! Thank you very much for listening to our shit even we sing in bloody german. Thank you.
