GermanMetalWiki

GermanMetalWiki is meant to be the ultimate resource for fans of German Metal music. As many resources about these bands are in German on the Internet, this wiki is meant to help international people discover new bands, or find more information about the ones they like. It features a growing database of information, divided into a section for each artist. Each of these sections is the equivalent of a full and complete fansite! We hope you can find enjoyment roaming around and (hopefully) discover a lot about the amazing artists featured... Viel Spass!

  1. Die Apokalyptischen Reiter: New single and album

After the successful release of their first live DVD earlier this year, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter have been working in studio to deliver their new album. No release date has yet been given for "Licht", but the first single "Der Weg" will be released on the 27th of June. Officially, it will only be released in the iTunes store, but 1.000 CD copies will also be printed because of popular demand. These CD copies will exclusively be available in Nuclear Blast's webshop. Here is the tracklist:

    1. Der Weg
    2. Es Wird Schlimmer
    3. Ich Suche
    4. Adrenalin (Monster Mix)

  2. L'Âme Immortelle: Durch Fremde Hand

2008 is definitely a productive year for L'Âme Immortelle. After releasing their new studio album "Namenlos" as well as a compilation of their early works, they have announced today the upcoming release of "Durch Fremde Hand", which they consider as "a contextual and musical continuation and extension" of "Namenlos". In fact, the double album's first CD will contain the same tracks as "Namenlos", but all of them in remixed versions by various artists, such as ASP, Dope Stars Inc. or Bella Donna. The second CD will contain six completely new tracks. The worldwide release of the album will be made on July the 25th.

It will come in two editions: the special edition, limited to 2000 copies, and the standard edition. It is already possible to order it from the German webshop Infrarot; if you want the special edition, it might be a good idea to order it as soon as possible. For those prefer to wait, it will be released in America on Isotank and Metropolis, and Canadians will have the luck to find it in many CD stores, as the distribution will be made by Universal Music there.

  3. OOMPH!: Design Monster's artwork!

OOMPH! are planning to have their tenth album, called "Monster", released by the end of Summer 2008, but the artwork is yet to be designed. They are actually holding a contest in which they ask you to design your own cover for Monster. Here is oomph.de's statement:

"[...] the sky’s the limit for your imagination and creativity, and naturally the winning cover design will be selected personally by Oomph! when the time is right. But you’ll have to hurry a little because the deadline for your cover designs is June 27th. And the best thing about the whole contest is that the album will be on your favorite record store shelves with your cover when it’s released in the late summer. We’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

So set your imaginations free and when you’re finished, upload your covers here."

    Good luck to everyone!

  4. Eisbrecher: Release dates

The release dates of Eisbrecher's new album and single have been confirmed today on their official website. The album, "Sünde" (in English: "Sin") will be released on the 22nd of August, and an American release is also planned for the 26th of August. The single, called "Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein" (in English: "Can Love Be A Sin?"), will be released as early as the 11th of July, but only in Germany.

As for the album, the band promised it would be their darkest and heaviest album so far. The singer Alexx also said the theme of "sin" will be recurrent through the album, as all songs will "deal exclusively with sinful activities". Eisbrecher's last album Antikörper was already much heavier than its self-titled predecessor, so it will be interesting to see how far they have gone into this direction.

  5. Unheilig: Spiegelbild tracklist & pre-order

As promised a few days ago, Unheilig has now revealed some more information about the Spiegelbild EP to be released on the 19th of July. It will contain, along with the main title, 2 different versions of Spiegelbild, an orchestral version of An Deiner Seite, and three new exclusive tracks. But the exclusive tracks are not just leftovers from the Puppenspiel sessions; according to Der Graf, they have been specially composed and recorded for this EP, and each of them is so good that it could have been released as a single of its own.

For those who want to own this EP, which is limited to 3.333 copies worldwide, there is only one option: ordering it online from Emso. The EP is exclusively sold there, and can already be pre-ordered (if you really want it, you should hurry, as it will probably be sold out before it is even released, as happened with the limited edition of Puppenspiel!).

    Here is the detailed tracklist:

    1. Spiegelbild (Extended Version)
    2. Spiegelbild (Krupps Remix)
    3. Schlaflos (Exklusiver Track)
    4. Die Alte Leier (Exklusiver Track)
    5. Hexenjagd (Exklusiver Track)
    6. An Deiner Seite (Orchester Version)
    7. Spiegelbild (Album Version)

Artist of the month

Unheilig is our featured artist for the month of June. They started in the year 2000 with a first single which was an instant hit: Sage Ja!. This first breakthrough in the German alternative scene brought many comparisons with Rammstein, but with time, with the help of several new albums, Unheilig proved they definitely had a style of their own. Der Graf, the frontman of the band, is known for very energetic live shows where he interacts a lot with the audience. With every album, Unheilig gained more popularity in Germany, and the release of Puppenspiel last year brought them to a peak of success; their unique mix of electronic beats, orchestra, electric guitar and piano showed to be a winning combination!

Album of the week

200px-Samsastraum-heiligesherz.jpg
Samsas Traum - Heiliges Herz is this week's featured album. It is a "back to the roots" for Samsas Traum, going back to the Black Metal style of their first album Die Liebe Gottes. However, the comparison probably stops there; where Die Liebe Gottes has a rather mediocre production, Heiliges Herz is a masterwork. The mixing is perfectly done, and every song sounds just as powerful as it should. Genre-wise, this opus has been called by its creator "Vegan Black Metal" - the first adjective being fully justified by the extremist vegan ideology pictured by the lyrics. Fans of the older Samsas Traum albums might find the new musical style too heavy, but let's bet songs like Auf Den Spiralnebeln and Liebeslied will please even them.
